Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

This a powerful story of a girl who becomes a social outcast in her high school after calling the cops on an end of the summer party. What everyone does not know is that she was raped at this party and is finding it impossible to talk about what happened.

The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary Pearson

This book was a big WOW for me. Advances in biotechnology have made it possible to create synthetic bodies; possible but illegal. I could sympathize with all of the characters, the parents who desperately want their daughter back after a terrible accident. The daughter wanting to know what really happened to her and who she is.

As my first expeirence into the realm of fairies I was surprised to be captivated and this modern fairie tale.

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

I must admit that this book did not start out as one of my favorites. I thought ok a baby survives a massacre and crawls to the nearby graveyard and is raised by ghosts? WHAT. Yes that's just how this masterfully told tale begins and kept me interested throughout the story. This is a must read!

I know everyone will be reading this trilogy and no one needs another review but I want to add this to my favorites because it truly has become one of my favorites!! I love the strong female character and the tough decisions made by all.

Dairy Queen by Catherine Gilbert Murdoch

Dairy Queen
by Catherine Gilbert Murdoch
About halfway through reading this book I realized that Catherine is the sister of Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of another of my favorites (adult books) Eat, Pray, Love. This kind of made me love this book just a little bit more. D.J. the hard working farm girl and super athlete takes on training her school's rival quarterback, Brian. Between working the farm almost all alone and training Brian D.J. had little time for much else. There is so much heart and soul in this book I found it inspiring and agrivating at the same time. There will always be cliques, I know, but I like to see the deserving get what they deserve. Read and find out more!!
